About the event
FRIDAY 25th OCTOBER 2024 (7.00 for 7.30) Following on from the SELL OUT performances of Farm Hall by Katherine Moar (performed July 2024 by Huntingdon Drama Club) We're excited to see local author Roger Leivers step on to the stage to tell the FULL STORY of one of Godmanchesters key historic periods. From the summer of 1945 ten German nuclear scientists were kept under lock and key in the wonderful Farm Hall on West Street, Godmanchester. ‘BUT DID YOU KNOW’ that from the summer of 1942, three years before they arrived, Farm Hall operated as an agent transit point known as Station 61b. Requisitioned by the RAF it became a vital link between London HQ and RAF Tempsford. Agents from almost every occupied country passed through the property under the watchful eye of Wing Commander Cautley Nasmyth Shaw and his team. Find out about the people who ran the Hall, some of the agents who passed through (and what happened to them), Crommie the Golden Cocker Spaniel, the V1 attack, Wadim (one of Hitlers top 100 prisoners of war who came to Fam Hall to recover from his ordeal) and so much more. The talk also updates a number of the stories which have expanded since the launch of Rogers book ‘Godmanchester at War’. Running time approx. 120 minutes including a 20 minute interval.
