A Midsummer Evening with author Lucy Atkins “Magpie Lane”

Lucy Atkins’ new blitz of a book is WINDMILL HILL. It’s the story of two very different women, both with painful pasts, and their eccentric friendship - deep, enduring, and loyal to the last. Come and hear Lucy talk all about it, live, in person here at the Commemoration Hall in Huntingdon. She'll happily answer questions about her brilliant rise to literary fame and will be here to sign copies of her books after her talk.

MAGPIE LANE (2020) was picked as one of the best novels of the year by the Guardian, the Telegraph, Good Housekeeping, and BBC Radio 4 Open Book. Many of Lucy’s works are published internationally and THE NIGHT VISITOR (2017) has been optioned for TV.

On a Thursday lunchtime you’ll find Lucy in her Insta writing shed where she regularly finds answers for new writers. She teaches on the Creative Writing Masters degree at the University of Oxford. She is a book critic for the Sunday Times & the Guardian, has judged the Costa Book Awards and has written for UK newspapers including Guardian, Times, Sunday Times, Telegraph, Sunday Express, and many UK magazines. As ever, the award winning Niche Books of Huntingdon will be the event's bookseller. The hall and its bar and café will be open for refreshments before, during and after the event.
